Dee is a photographer, filmmaker, adventurer, best mate to Tom and Mama of three kids 14, 12 and 8 now based in Wānaka.
From Nov ’20 to May ’21 Dee, Tom and the kids tramped Te Araroa Trail from Cape Reinga to Bluff. One hellova six month adventure scratching a small part of the itch that is finding your way in this magnificent world when it often seems to be crumbling around you.
Now settled back down into the routine of jobs and school with the kids keen to build a solid base of mates in their new surrounds, Dee is experimenting with micro adventures, trying to work outdoors more and live a more adventurous life in the day to day.
I’m Senka, creator and host of the She Adventures NZ Podcast. I didn’t discover my love for exploring the outdoors till my early 20’s. It was then that I launched Adventure Girls, and two decades later the She Adventures NZ Podcast.
At 40, I sold 2/3rd of everything I owned, built out the back of my 4WD ‘Hank The Tank’ and traveled New Zealand for 5 months and explored the true beauty of my country.
Five years later I moved to the South Island of New Zealand, bought Stan the Van, my Ford Transit Van and have been in the process of converting him for weekend adventures.
Now I’m all about sharing the stories, via the podcast, of the epic women I’ve meet outdoors along the way. My hope is that our conversations inspire women to get outdoors, and fill their happy tank, because life is better when you do.
